2020 Football and Cheer Registration

Welcome to the 2020 Bethlehem Steelers!

The first day of practice will be Monday, August 24th, 2020. Please arrive at the field at 5:45 PM, with your child dressed in comfortable clothing, with a water bottle for hydration and a mouthpiece.

Explanation of Commitment: We commend you for encouraging your child to participate in youth sports. This is a great opportunity to further develop the character of your child. Both football and cheerleading are enjoyable sports for many children, which also require much dedication and commitment. In order for a child to have a successful experience, this commitment must be shared and supported by parents and/or guardians. To support your child, please ensure that practices and games are attended as instructed by your team’s assigned coaches. Please read below and refer to the Parent Code of Conduct for ways to contribute to a positive and successful experience.

Communications: The Bethlehem Steelers use a system called ‘Blackboard Connect’ to communicate with parents throughout the year. Blackboard Connect is a system which will be used to either send an email or phone message (depending on the information and urgency). In case of inclement weather and practice cancellation, you will receive a phone message via the alert system. Please be advised, since practices are extremely important, coaches will usually wait until late in the day to decide to cancel their practice, so cancellation may not be advised until close to 6:00 PM. Contact information will be obtained at registration and can be revised at any time throughout the season by visiting the field house.

Website and Facebook: Please check our website at www.bethlehemsteelers.com and our Facebook Page throughout the season for important information and updates.

General Conduct Rules:

  • Player safety is the first and foremost priority.
  • Respect all equipment, playing field, buildings, and surrounding areas. This is our complex. Please help us to keep it safe and clean.
  • Good sportsmanship will be stressed at all times. Fighting, use of profanity, or other disorderly conduct will result in disciplinary action.
  • Any injuries must be reported to the head coach immediately.
  • The rules and regulations of the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Football League and the bylaws of the Bethlehem Steelers Athletic Association will be enforced. All disciplinary action will be handled per our bylaws. A copy of our bylaws can be accessed from our website.
  • Questions or comments in regards to a coach’s decision and/or practice should be directed to the appropriate coach, football or cheer coordinator, or the Board of Directors.

Things A Parent Can Do to Help A Coach:

  • Arrive at practices and games on time.
  • Contact the coach if your child is going to miss a practice or game.
  • Communicate with the coach, but not on the field.
  • Encourage your child to respect and listen to the coach.
  • Thank your coaches for their time and effort.
  • Focus on effort, not winning. Say only positive things on the sidelines.
  • Do not shout instructions to your child during a game.
  • Support the coach, especially regarding lineup choices and discipline.
  • Provide sideline support and participation for the team.
  • Do not allow sleepovers or late nights before a game.
  • Support the coach, especially regarding lineup choices and discipline.

  • Serve as a coach or assistant coach – see requirements on bethlehemsteelers.com (by-laws)
  • Serve as “Team Parent”
  • Field and building work parties (line painting, mowing of grass, general clean up, etc.)
  • Assist coordinators in accomplishing organizational needs or become a coordinator.

*Please contact any board member if interested in performing any of the above duties.
